SEARCH FOR INFORMATION LIKE A PRO
The electronic catalog (hereinafter – EC) of the library was created and constantly updated in 2002. Today it consists of more than 370 thousand records. Bibliographic descriptions of almost all new acquisitions of monographs, dissertation abstracts and journals are entered into the EC and EC databases. The current registration of all journal issues and new acquisitions of regulatory and technical documents is also carried out. The use of EC allows us to respond promptly to various user requests.
The Open Ukrainian Citation Index (OUCI) is a search engine and database of scientific citations that come from all publications that use the Cited-by service from Crossref and support the Initiative for Open Citations.
OUCI aims to simplify the search for scientific publications, draw the attention of editors to the problem of completeness and quality of metadata of Ukrainian scientific publications, improve the representation of Ukrainian scientific publications in specialized search engines (e.g., Dimensions, Lens.org, 1findr, Scilit), which can expand their readership, and allow bibliometricians to freely study the links between authors and documents in various scientific disciplines, in particular in the social sciences and humanities.
Also, in accordance with the OUCI principle of operation, ideally, in the future, each item in the bibliography will have to contain a DOI, so the OUCI search engine will facilitate the process of checking the sources used in the process of writing scientific papers.
ORCID id — is a unique identifier of a researcher that reliably and clearly connects the researcher with his or her scientific works, affiliations, projects, and other types of scientific activity.
Scopus – is a scientometric abstract database of scientific citations that was created in 2004 by the Elsevier publishing corporation. The database contains more than 82 million documents (peer-reviewed scientific journals, conference proceedings, serial book publications, etc.), and the archive goes back to 1788.
Scopus is one of the tools in the field of scientometrics that provides various metrics for quantifying science: more than 17 million author profiles and more than 80 thousand institutional profiles have been created, more than 25 thousand titles of peer-reviewed scientific journals have been indexed, and 1.7 billion scientific citations are available.
To date, the database has indexed over 5500 titles of open access scientific journals.
The Scopus (ASJC) rubric has 27 basic thematic sections divided into 335 subsections; multithematic articles are indexed in several sections at once.
The SSTL of Ukraine provides consulting services on the creation and editing of scientists’ profiles in Scopus.
ScienceDirect is a full-text database of Elsevier that contains 25% of the world’s scientific publications in all fields of knowledge from more than 47 thousand influential authors.
The ScienceDirect platform includes such types of scientific publications as Elsevier eBooks, Book Series, Handbooks, Textbooks, etc.
The advantages of using the ScienceDirect platform include a user-friendly and intuitive interface, widespread full-text download formats (PDF and HTML), and the availability of hyperlinks to a significant number of scientific, technical, and medical articles on the platforms of other publishers.
All state and municipal higher education institutions and scientific institutions of Ukraine, regardless of their departmental subordination, received unlimited access to the collection of 2088 electronic monographs of 2019-2020.
The Web of Science platform is owned by Clarivate Analytics. Until 2017, the IP&Science. Thomson Reuters’ Intellectual Property and Science is a continuation of the scientific citation indices proposed by Eugene Garfield in the 1950s and created by the Institute for Scientific Information since 1964. Since 1997, three specialized scientific citation indices have been combined on a web platform called Web of Science.
Today, the Web of Science platform hosts 15 databases created by Clarivate Analytics and its partners. In total, the platform indexes more than 33 thousand publications from all disciplines since 1864.
The main part of the collection is the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC), which consists of the Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE), Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI), and Art and Humanities Citation Index (AHCI) indices of scientific citations of periodicals in the natural and technical sciences. Since 2015, the WoSCC has been expanded by the multidisciplinary Emerging Source Citation Index (ESCI), and the archive is extended to 2005.
WoSCC also presents citation indices of the best conferences Conference Proceedings Citation Index (CPCI) and monographs Book Citation Index BkCI and two chemical indices: Current Chemical Reactions (CCR-EXPANDED) and Index Chemicus (IC).
SPRINGER NATURE is an international publishing house formed by the merger of Springer Science+Business Media and Nature Publishing Group, one of the world’s largest publishers of influential academic and popular science books and journals.
Since January 2020, all Ukrainian state and municipal universities and research institutions have gained access to the full-text resources of SPRINGER NATURE, namely
Springer 2017 eBook collection (available for lifetime use for Ukrainian users)
Springer electronic journal collection 1997-2020 (test access January 2020 – June 2020).
Users of the SSTL of Ukraine in the reading room of the library have access to the full-text resources of the Springer Link portal – 9662 titles of e-books for 2017.
Bentham Science is a publisher of peer-reviewed scientific literature in the fields of pharmacology and medicine, engineering and social sciences. Today, Bentham Science publishes more than 130 peer-reviewed scientific journals, the vast majority of which are indexed by leading bibliographic databases.
Supporting the scientific community of Ukraine in times of war, Bentham Science has extended free trial access to its electronic resources to Ukrainian higher education and research institutions until December 31, 2023.
Ukrainian higher education and research institutions have received free access to full-text electronic resources on the Research4Life platform until the end of 2023. Access is provided through the single Research4Life portal or special portals AGORA or ARDI.
The Research4Life portal provides access to electronic collections of books and journals of international publishers Elsevier, Springer Nature, John Wiley & Sons, Taylor & Francis, Emerald, Sage Publications, Oxford University Press, Cambridge University Press, IOP Publishing and others (select the name of the country and type of institution in the appropriate fields).
In turn, the SSTL of Ukraine acts as an administrator in providing access to the resource.
Currently, there are 2 options for connecting to the resource, which involve registering an institution on the Research4Life platform or renewing such registration (for previously registered institutions).

TIB AV-Portal is a portal for posting scientific and educational videos.

International companies Elsevier, EBSCO, BMJ Publishing Group Ltd provide access to their own electronic resources to support Ukrainian scientists.
