THE EXPERTS OF THE SSTL OF UKRAINE ARE INTERESTED IN THE WIDESPREAD TRANSFORMATION OF SUBSCRIPTION-BASED SCIENTIFIC JOURNALS INTO OPEN ACCESS JOURNALS
The State Scientific and Technical Library (SSTL) of Ukraine has joined the international initiative OA2020 Expression of Interest. The librarians of the SSTL of Ukraine are aiming at widespread practice of free access to scientific articles, as well as opportunities for their unrestricted use and processing.
The librarians of the SSTL of Ukraine recognize and support various ways of transition to Open Access, in particular by developing new publishing open platforms, archives and repositories.
By signing the Expression of Interest in the Large-scale Implementation of Open Access to Scholarly Journals, the librarians of the SSTL of Ukraine confirmed their interest in joining the international OA2020 Expression of Interest initiative and agreed:
- To support new and improved forms of open access publishing;
- To facilitate these transformational processes through the redistribution of resources – to support open projects instead of subscription;
- To invite representatives of universities, academia, financial institutions, libraries and publishers to collaborate to effectively transition to an open model for the benefit of science and society at large.
The specialists of the SSTL of Ukraine consider this project as an important stage in the fundamental evolution of the scientific publishing system, which will lead to a significant improvement in the quality of scientific communication and research evaluation.
